Beginning
at age 6, Krystyna began her musical journey with
classical piano lessons. By the 5th grade, she was
studying both piano and trumpet and singing in the
choir. Despite her young age, she knew then that
music was going to be her life's passion. Throughout
junior and high school, Krystyna explored modern,
jazz, big band and classical music. |
| She
attended St.Olaf college to pursue classical trumpet. She
moved back to the piano, learned the harpsichord,
then finished college with a degree in organ. Krystyna
found her voice again along the way. Her voice
instructor convinced her that she wasn't just an
instrumentalist, but that she was also a vocalist. The
rediscovery of her voice was life changing. There
were 2 more years of graduate school, and during
her 10 years of playing professionally, she began
writing her own music outside of "work". Moving
from working with bands and collaborating with other
artists and musicians, she has finally emerged as
a solo performer. |
| Her
musical tastes range from industrial to ethereal
soundscapes. Artists such as Ryuichi Sakamoto, David
Sylvian, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Thelonius
Monk, Dave Brubeck, Cocteau Twins, Skinny Puppy,
Peter Gabriel, and This Mortal Coil are a few of
her vast interests in music for the mind, body,
and soul. |
